No moral victories? Sorry, UVa. grew, even in Michigan State defeat

Everybody and their president had Michigan State as national champs when the brackets were announced two weeks ago. The fourth-seeded Spartans wouldn’t even consider the top-seed UVa. a road bump along the way. The entirety of the NCAA Tournament was a coronation of the preseason favorite who spent three weeks at the top of the national polls before a slew of injuries knocked Sparty down a few pegs.

On the fourteenth of each month, the anniversary of the Sandy Hook tragedy, I join dozens of others at a vigil at the National Rifle Association headquarters to remind everyone of the need for sensible gun safety measures. After the most recent vigil, I got an email from Erin Nikitchyuk in Newtown, Conn., which I share with her permission to remind us of how we all need to be concerned about this issue.
