JMU baseball opens CAA play with doubleheader sweep of Hofstra

Junior third baseman Ty McFarland (Bridgewater, Va./Turner Ashby) hit a walk-off sacrifice fly in game one and the Dukes pounded out 18 hits in game two as the James Madison baseball team earned a doubleheader sweep over Hofstra at Veterans Memorial Park, Saturday. JMU won its Colonial Athletic Association opener 12-11, before taking game two, 18-13.

VMI holds off Longwood rally to win in Big South Tourney, 90-86

No. 2 North VMI got 79 points from the trio of Stan Okoye, D.J. Covington and Rodney Glasgow, overcoming Michael Kessens’ tournament-record 36 points and a furious second-half comeback by No. 6 North Longwood. VDOT work schedule for March 4-8

The following is a list of highway work that might affect traffic in the VDOT Staunton transportation district during the coming weeks. The Staunton district is comprised of 11 counties, Alleghany, Bath, Rockbridge, Augusta, Highland, Rockingham, Shenandoah, Frederick, Page, Warren and Clarke. Work scheduled is subject to change due to inclement weather and material supplies. Motorists are advised to watch for slow-moving tractors during mowing operations. Also, when traveling through a work zone, be alert to periodic changes in traffic patterns and lane closures.
