UVa starting pitcher Brandon Waddell (Fr., Houston, Texas) worked six scoreless innings, extending the Cavalier starting pitchers’ scoreless streak to 40 1/3 straight innings.

Since last November, there has been a lot of talk about how passing immigration reform this year will be “smart politics” given the role Latino voters played in the recent election. As a small business owner, I’ll leave the political forecasting to the pundits, but I can say this: failing to pass immigration reform, whatever the politics, would be downright knuckle-headed economics.

The James Madison baseball team notched its first win of the 2013 season as the Dukes took down the Binghamton Bearcats 9-1 in the second game of the Saturday doubleheader. JMU had nine runs off of 12 hits with no errors while Binghamton plated one run off of eight hits with one error.

The ACLU of Virginia joined bill patrons Del. Ben Cline (R-Amherst), Del. Todd Gilbert (R-Woodstock) and State Sen. Donald McEachin (D-Richmond) in calling on the governor to sign without amendment the drone moratorium legislation sent to his desk this week by overwhelming bi-partisan votes in both houses.
