Hi, my name is Chris, and I’m an addict. A Sabre.com addict. I came clean on this a couple of weeks ago, making my first post on the site devoted to all things UVa. athletics, about 15 years too late, now that I think about it. That’s roughly how long I’ve been reading the site, basically on a daily basis 10 months a year, August through June.

Apologists for embattled UVa. football coach Mike London begin their defense of the Cavs’ awful 2-10 2013 season by pointing out how young the team was this year – with just seven seniors seeing action. The notion advanced along with this defense is that London’s first three recruiting classes, all in or around the Rivals Top 25, will get better with age.

This weekend, the Obama administration announced that the federal health insurance exchange website is now “accessible for the vast majority of users” after two months of glitches, errors, and bugs. While the website may be more accessible, the administration has not addressed another major issue presented by the launch of this website.

Despite playing a man down for the final 89 minutes, the Virginia men’s soccer team defeated Marquette, 3-1, Sunday afternoon in the NCAA tournament’s round of 16 at Klöckner Stadium. The eighth-seeded Cavaliers (12-5-5) advance to play the winner of the UCLA-Connecticut match next weekend in the NCAA quarterfinals.

The Shenandoah Valley Art Center, during the month of December, is exhibiting the watermedia paintings of Staunton artist, Billie Rosenburger, whose mediations on color yield cheerful bright imagery. An Opening Reception and Artist Talk will be held Dec. 7, 6-8 p.m., and the public is encouraged to come and meet the artist.

Virginia Tech scored on four first-half possessions, and then won a war of attrition in a scoreless second half to take down Virginia, 16-6, on Saturday in Scott Stadium, extending the Hokies’ winning streak in the series to 10 games.

Augusta Free Press editor Chris Graham is live at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville for today’s ACC football matchup between UVa. and Virginia Tech. Virginia Tech (7-4, 4-3 ACC) enters the game with a nine-game winning streak agaiust their in-state rival. Virginia (2-9, 0-7 ACC) has lost eight straight in 2013 and is wrapping its sixth losing season in its last eight, including its third in four season under coach Mike London.

The last time UVa. football defeated Virginia Tech was 2003. This is before Facebook, so there’s something to ponder. Virginia football fans haven’t been able to post to Facebook, We beat Tech! Mike London was on the sidelines in Charlottesville that day as the defensive line coach under Al Groh.

Remember when Logan Thomas was a sure-fire first-round NFL draft pick? Thomas had a banner year as a sophomore at Virginia Tech, when he threw for 3,013 yards and accounted for 30 touchdowns. Hard as it is to believe, Thomas’ numbers two years later are not that much better than the much-maligned David Watford at UVa.

UVa. broke open a tight game with a 23-0 first-half run en route to blasting Hampton, 69-40, on Tuesday in Charlottesville. The Cavs (5-1) got off to a sluggish start against the Pirates. A jumper by Hampton’s Dionte Adams at the 9:59 mark tied the game at 16. A Joe Harris three-pointer on Virginia’s next possession gave UVa. the lead, but it was still 19-16 ‘Hoos at the 7:48 media timeout.
