
Charlottesville Women’s Four Miler set for Saturday

A fundraiser for the UVA Cancer Center’s Breast Care Program, the Charlottesville Women’s Four Miler draws more than 3,500 runners and walkers.

The McIntire/Harris intersection in Charlottesville will be paved on Thursday, August 28th. Traffic will be maintained through the intersection, but Allied Lane will be closed for a portion of the day as it is repaved. Please use Allied Street to access McIntire Plaza.

Due to UVA’s game against UCLA on Saturday, August 30, Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT) will detour the FREE Trolley. Bus stops along Alderman Road, McCormick Road, and portions of Jefferson Park Avenue will not be served. The detour will begin at halftime and last until two hours post game. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 PM.

Members of the Charlottesville Professional Fire Fighters Association Local 2363 and Charlottesville Fire Department, along with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, kicked off the fire fighters’ annual Fill the Boot fundraising campaign to benefit children and adults affected by muscle disease throughout the Charlottesville area.

Due to UVA’s Move-In, Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT) will detour the FREE Trolley on Friday, August 22 and Saturday, August 23.

The intersection of McIntire Road and the Route 250 Bypass in Charlottesville will be closed overnight on Monday, August 18th and Tuesday, August 19th from 7pm to 6am to erect steel bridge girders.

On August 16, 2014, Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT) will implement a new service schedule. Changes to the schedule include minor route alignment tweaks, frequency adjustments, and an increase in service hours.

Members of the City of Charlottesville Fire Department and Charlottesville Professional Fire Fighters Association Local 2363, along with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, will host a special event to celebrate their 60-year partnership and kick off the fire fighters’ annual Fill the Boot fundraising campaign to benefit children and adults affected by muscle disease throughout the Charlottesville area.

The Charlottesville City Sheriff’s Office will offer a one day basic self-defense training on Saturday, Aug. 9, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
