zeglinskisammy.gifuvaswords.jpgUVa. point guard Sammy Zeglinski is done for the season after being set for a second operation on his injured right ankle.
The freshman had averaged 7.8 minutes per game and 1.9 assists per game for the Cavs off the bench.
Zeglinski had undergone arthroscopic surgery on the ankle last month. The second operation is aimed at further stabilizing the ankle.

Zeglinski had not played in a game since the Dec. 7 contest with Longwood.
The school is beginning the process of applying for a medical hardship for Zeglinski that will retain his year of college eligibility.

The loss of the heralded recruit will mean more pressure on senior point guard Sean Singletary, who is averaging 32.0 minutes per game in 2007-2008 after having to log 33.2 minutes per game overall and 34.5 minutes per game in ACC play a year ago.
“We were using Sammy some games 10, 12, 14 minutes, some a little less – and just trying to put him in more of an apprentice role and learning from Sean and competing with Sean and sometimes alongside Sean,” Virginia coach Dave Leitao said today.
“Obviously not having that, it weakens our ability in our rotations in the backcourt, but specifically, as you mentioned, from a point-guard standpoint, obviously Sean will have to probably log more minutes – and Calvin (Baker), who has been very good for us thus far, both as an off-guard and a little bit of a point guard, more of a combo guard, will play a little bit more point guard now,” Leitao said.
