Virginia snapped a three-game slide with an 81-54 victory over NJIT on Sunday, its sixth win of the season. In all six victories, the Cavaliers have led by at least 10 points in the game.

UVA held a 39-29 rebounding edge against NJIT, the second time this season the Cavaliers had a double-digit rebounding advantage.

The Cavaliers had their second-straight game of shooting over 50 percent, making 33-of-65 (.508) of their field goal attempts. Last week, the Cavaliers were a combined 62-of-123 (50.4 percent) overall and 14-of-35 (40.0 percent) from three-point range. UVA is currently sixth in the ACC in shooting percentage at 42.7 percent.

Sophomore Lauren Moses (Mt. Holly, N.J.) had the best shooting performance by a Cavalier this season, going 7-of-9 (77.7 percent) against the Highlanders. In addition to scoring 14 points, which was her fourth-consecutive double-digit scoring effort, Moses also grabbed 11 rebounds, giving her UVA’s first double-double of the season. Moses leads the team in rebounding, ranking 11th in the ACC with 6.8 per game. Moses is sixth in the ACC, averaging 3.1 offensive rebounds per game.

Sophomore guard Aliyah Huland El (Randolph, N.J.) also shot 70.0 percent from the field, making seven of her 10 attempts against NJIT. Huland El had her fifth double-digit scoring performance of the year, contributing 17 of the Virginia bench’s 34 points in the game. In addition to making seven baskets, Huland El also contributed four assists, giving her a role in 11 of Virginia’s 33 makes in the game.

Bowling Green went 1-1 last week, winning 74-56 over Evansville before falling on Saturday to Cleveland State, 69-48. Just one Falcon, fifth-year senior Lauren Tibbs, has a double-digit scoring average. Tibbs, in her first season at BGSU after transferring from Marquette, has 11.4 points per game, and also leads the Falcons with 7.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocked shots per game. Tibbs is shooting a BG-best 63.0 percent from the field.

This is the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
