LOSER: Did GOP have ulterior motives in pushing transportation stalemate?

I ask that in light of the talk today about how the ongoing stalemate could impact Kaine’s chances for being named the #2 man on the Barack Obama ticket.

I would suspect that kicking Timmy in the shins to keep him from moving up the political ladder was somewhere down on the list of the GOP’s motives for blocking anything substantive from getting done on transportation.

(The big push would seem to come in the area of helping Bob McDonnell and Bill Bolling in ’09. As if highlighting their own ineffectiveness in getting anything moving forward on transportation next year will be any kind of benefit to them.)

That said, this is all so clearly political as to make one sick to the stomach.

WINNER: Valley League welcomes Lexington franchise

And then there will be 12. Great news for the Valley. Scheduling for an odd number of teams is a nightmare.

And adding a Lexington team fills the gaping hole that was left in the league’s market area.

Congrats to all involved.

TODAY’S HOT OR NOT: Sean Singletary’s Sacramento situation

At first I was high on the news that the former UVa. point guard was headed to the Kings, but that was before they resigned point guard Beno Udrih (never heard of him either) following the draft.

Now it looks like Double-S is destined to start his NBA career as a backup.

Looks like I’ll never figure out how the NBA does what it does.
