The Waynesboro Public Library will host a celebration of Irish music and stories with Eve Watters at 12 p.m., Wednesday, March 13. The concert will feature Celtic harp, storytelling, and an array of traditional instruments including banjo, autoharp and dulcimer. The free hour-long performance includes a light lunch.
Initially self-taught, Watters has collected music and stories since her childhood. She gathered firsthand experience with traditional folk music while living in Burma and England, and studied Celtic harp in Ireland. Along the way, she’s amassed a repertoire of rare delights and old favorites.
Watters has served as a touring artist with the Virginia Commission for the Arts for 21 years, performing for thousands of audiences throughout Virginia, around the U.S., and in Britain, Australia and Brazil. A certified music practitioner, she is a musician-in-residence for the University of Virginia Health System and originated an innovative program of therapeutic bedside music there.
Librarian Rebecca Lamb says, “This is our third year bringing Celtic music to Waynesboro in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. This style of music is very popular with our audiences and we are pleased to host a performer of the caliber of Eve Watters.
