Barber, Jeremy LionelThe Waynesboro Police Department arrested a Waynesboro man after two brushes with the law within 30 minutes of each other landed him in jail.

On Saturday at 4:30 a.m., officers responded to an apartment in the 1000 block of 14th Street for a report of a disorderly, loud subject in the apartment.  Officers spoke with Jeremy Lionel Barber, 34 years old of Waynesboro, and gave him a warning about his loud behavior.

About 30 minutes later, officers were sent back to the apartment for another complaint of the noise.  From outside, officers could hear Barber cursing and yelling.  Officers were able to get another man inside to open the door.  Barber immediately got belligerent with them and refused to cooperate with officers.  Since he had been previously warned, officers decided to write Barber a criminal summons for a loud noise violation.  Barber continued to be difficult and would not provide the officers with his personal information.  Since he would not cooperate, officers arrested him for the loud noise violation and obstruction of justice, both misdemeanors.

At the PD, Barber continued his disruptive behavior during his bond hearing and was ordered held without bond by the magistrate.

As an officer was transporting Barber to Middle River Regional Jail, he threatened to burn down the officer’s house and take him out.  This outburst netted Barber with a felony Threat to Burn a Dwelling.

Barber is at MRRJ without bond.
