Waynesboro Generals romp to 8-2 win over Charles Town

generalsWaynesboro scored in each of the first five innings to bolt to a 7-0 lead, and coasted to an 8-2 win over the Charles Town Cannons Sunday night at Kate Collins Field.

The Generals also got a strong outing on the mound from Jordan Harmon (freshman, Austin Peay), who gave up a run on five hits in seven and two-thirds innings. Harmon (1-0) struck out four and walked one, throwing 104 pitches, 65 for strikes.

Mike Marcinko (sophomore, Shippensburg) had a hit and two runs batted in for the Generals, who improve to 15-8 and move to within a game and a half of Valley League-leading Front Royal.

Waynesboro is off Monday, and returns to action on Tuesday at home against local rival Staunton. First pitch at Kate Collins Field is at 7 p.m.
