Henry Zatkowski struck out 10 in seven innings, and AJ Gracia and Noah Murray each went deep for #9 Virginia in an 11-6 win over Virginia Tech in the teams’ series opener on Friday night at Disharoon Park.

Odd statline in this one for Zatkowski (3-0, 6.04 ERA): seven innings pitched, six runs, four earned, on seven hits, 10 Ks, no walks, all on 90 pitches.

I don’t know how you strike out 10 in seven innings or give up six runs on seven hits on 90 pitches, much less both.

Harrison Didawick was 4-for-5 at the plate for Virginia (15-3, 3-1 ACC).

Game 2 of the series has a 1 p.m. first pitch.
