People called Waynesboro High School last fall insisting that they had to be wrong, that the Night of the Superstars was going on, they just wanted to know when and what time.
But Marvin Ward took 2007 off to focus on a new business venture. “The reason was time,” said Ward, whose Ward Family Entertainment is bringing back Night of the Superstars on Nov. 8 at Waynesboro High School with a main event featuring ECW favorites Stevie Richards and Danny Doring and an undercard with former WWE and AWA tag-team champion Marty Jannetty, former NWA and WCW tag champ Beautiful Bobby Eaton and former NWA singles and tag titleholder and NFL veteran The Raging Bull Manny Fernandez.
“I didn’t want to go into doing it halfway, and getting these shows together is a commitment,” said Ward, whose five installments of the Night of the Superstars series raised more than $60,000 for the UVa. Children’s Medical Center, where his two daughters, Brittany and Hannah, were born after their mother, Ward’s wife, Stacie, had complications in both of their childbirths.
Tickets are on sale now at the WHS athletics office, at 7-Eleven in Fishersville and Stuarts Draft, and at Crossroads Music in Waynesboro and Staunton. Ringside tickets are sold out, but $10 general-admission tickets are still available.
“I don’t want there to be any reason that people can’t come. For ten bucks, you can’t even get a fast-food meal anymore. And for ten dollars now, you get to come in and meet every single wrestler on the card. And you get away from all your troubles for a couple of hours,” Ward said.
