UVA (4-0-2) outshot Georgetown (1-2-2) by a 7-3 margin, for what that’s worth.
“Obviously, we are disappointed with the result,” ‘Hoos coach Steve Swanson said afterward. “We played much better in the second half, which was good to see, but still not enough quality in our attack compared to the way Georgetown defended. In the end, our effort was there, but we just need to be better when a team plays in a tight mid-block.”

The fifth-ranked UVA Field Hockey team dropped a 2-1 decision to Ohio State on Sunday afternoon to close out the Big 10/ACC Challenge in Piscataway, N.J.
Virginia (2-1) controlled the pace of play early as Caroline Raynes recorded a shot just six seconds into the match.
Over the final 25 minutes of the opening half, the ‘Hoos could not convert on six different penalty corners as the two teams played to a 0-0 tie at the break.
With just over five minutes passed in the second half, Bella Moore, a New Jersey native, scored the lone UVA goal of the afternoon.
Virginia held the one-goal advantage into the fourth quarter before Ohio State’s Sienna Golden scored twice in just over a minute to give the Buckeyes (2-2) a 2-1 lead with 11 minutes left in regulation.
