Voter registration available at Monticello 4th of July Celebration

constitutionThe Charlottesville and Albemarle Voter Registration Offices, in cooperation with the Charlottesville-Albemarle League of Women Voters, will conduct a voter registration drive at Monticello on July 4 from 7 a.m. until noon. Look for the tent with the “Voter Registration” banner.

Voter registration applications may be submitted by residents of any Virginia locality. National forms will be available for residents of other states.

To be eligible to register to vote in Virginia a person must:
* Be a resident of Virginia (a person who has come to Virginia for temporary purposes and intends to return to another state is not considered a resident for voting purposes).
* Be a U. S. Citizen.
* Be 18 years old by the next general election (Nov. 3, 2015).
* Not be registered and plan to vote in another state.
* Not be currently declared mentally incompetent by a court of law.
* If convicted of a felony, voting rights must have been restored.Voters must be registered at their current residential address. Voters who move must change their registration address to remain eligible to vote.

Virginia residents may register to vote or check their voter registration status online at www.vote.virginia.gov.
