VDOT issues notice of intent to award Route 29 Solutions design-build contract

Chris Graham

route 29The Virginia Department of Transportation this morning informed Lane-Corman Joint Venture of its intent to award the contract to design and construct three Route 29 Solutions design-build projects to the team.

The team’s response to the two-phase best value request for proposals was determined to be the highest ranking after evaluation of their technical and price proposals. Lane-Corman’s price proposal, $116,746,000, was the lowest of the three teams. VDOT will present the recommendation for award to the Commonwealth Transportation Board at its Feb. 18 meeting.

The design-build team is comprised of three companies: Lane Construction Corp., of Chantilly, Corman Construction Inc., of Chesterfield, and engineering firm RK&K of Richmond. The final rankings of the three design-build offerors and the notice of intent to award are posted on VDOT’s website:http://www.virginiadot.org/business/soq.asp

Three projects are included in the design-build package: widening Route 29 between Polo Grounds Road and Towncenter Drive, extending Berkmar Drive from Hilton Heights Road to Towncenter Drive, and grade separating the intersection of Rio Road and Route 29. Much more information about the Route 29 Solutions projects can be found on VDOT’s website at:  www.Route29Solutions.org.
