UVA men’s soccer picked to finish second in ACC Coastal

uva soccerThe UVA men’s soccer team, ranked No. 15 in the country by the United Soccer Coaches, have been picked to finish second in the ACC Coastal Division in a vote of the league’s 12 head coaches.

With 53 points, including one first place vote, the Cavaliers were tied with Louisville for the fourth most in the conference. Virginia finished third in the 2017 Coastal Division standings and reached the ACC Championship game for the 19th time in program history.

North Carolina was picked to finish first in the Coastal Division for the third-straight year with 70 points while defending ACC Champion Wake Forest tallied 62 points, the most in the Atlantic Division. The Tar Heels were picked as the league’s overall champion with five, first place votes.

Virginia returns 19 letterwinners from a year ago, including Second Team All-South Region defender Sergi Nus and ACC All-Freshman honoree, Joe Bell.

The Cavaliers will play in one final exhibition match on Saturday, August 25 at Klöckner Stadium before opening up the season at home on Friday, Aug. 24 against No. 19 New Hampshire.

General admission season tickets remain on sale for men’s and women’s soccer and are available for ($20) and UVA Faculty/Staff ($15). Reserved season tickets are sold out.
