The transfer portal taketh away, we already knew that, but tonight, we’re learning that it’s giveth-ing back to UVA Football, with respect to Maddox Marcellus.

The 6’2”, 228-pound edge rusher/outside linebacker was one that I had mentioned last week I particularly hated losing to the portal.

Well, it would appear that head coach Tony Elliott and GM Tyler Jones agree.

Word is, Marcellus renegotiated himself a new deal.

Big keep for Virginia here.

Marcellus logged 334 snaps, with 45 tackles, 11 QB pressures, three sacks, two pass breakups and an INT in 2025.

Quick hits

  • Defensive tackle Hunter Osborne is landing at Arkansas. Osborne was a rotation guy at DT for UVA in 2025, getting 271 snaps in the interior, with 14 tackles, four QB pressures and a sack.
  • Former UVA QB1 Anthony Colandrea is committing to Nebraska. Didn’t see that one coming. Colandrea, at UNLV in 2025, passed for 3,459 yards and 23 TDs with nine INTs, and 649 yards and 10 TDs on the ground.
  • Virginia’s QB situation: still up in the air. No word on Chandler Morris or DJ Lagway. (You’re still going to email, I get it.)
