Trump reveals real motivation on Greenland: Hurt feelings over Nobel Peace Prize

Donald Trump just let the world know why he wants to steal Greenland: because he didn’t get the Nobel Peace Prize.

“Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace, although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper for the United States of America,” Trump wrote in an unhinged text message sent to Jonas Gahr Støre, the prime minister of Norway, which has nothing to do with the Nobel Peace Prize, and also has nothing to do with Greenland, which is a part of the Kingdom of Denmark.

Denmark is not Norway; Norway is not Denmark.

Two separate countries.

This is why it’s maybe helpful to have a person in the Oval Office who could pass ninth-grade World Geography.

“Denmark cannot protect that land from Russia or China, and why do they have a ‘right of ownership’ anyway? There are no written documents, it’s only that a boat landed there hundreds of years ago, but we had boats landing there, also,” Trump wrote, again, to the prime minister of Norway – and note: he’s making an argument here that Denmark, which is not Norway, has no more right to Greenland than anyone else who had a boat that “landed there hundreds of years ago.”

Somebody might need to tell him about Jamestown, and the Mayflower.

“I have done more for NATO than any other person since its founding, and now, NATO should do something for the United States. The World is not secure unless we have Complete and Total Control of Greenland. Thank you! President DJT,” Trump finished his screed.

Again, to the prime minister of Norway, which is not Denmark – whose territory is the one that Trump wants to take, by force, if necessary.

And if he decides to order the U.S. military to invade, he would trigger a response from NATO to defend the invasion of Greenland, which as a territory of Denmark is under the NATO umbrella.

Euro members of the NATO alliance sent a small military dispatch to Greenland last week, with forces from Germany, Sweden, Norway, Finland, the Netherlands and the UK participating in Danish-led joint exercises called Operation Arctic Endurance.

NATO is being activated to protect Europe from … the United States.

All because our president has hurt fee-fees over a peace prize that he thinks should have been his because of all the wars he’s stopped – fact-check: Donald Trump hasn’t stopped a single war, and he’s actively in the process of starting a civil war inside the United States.

Trump seems to think the Norwegian government decides who wins the various Nobel prizes.

Fact-check: not!

Støre confirmed that the text is authentic, and that it was a response to a text that he had sent to Trump to convey his opposition to proposed tariffs against Norway and other Euro countries that are part of Trump’s plan to get our allies to capitulate on his demand for control of Greenland.

“Norway’s position on Greenland is clear,” Støre said. “Greenland is a part of the Kingdom of Denmark, and Norway fully supports the Kingdom of Denmark on this matter. We also support that NATO in a responsible way is taking steps to strengthen security and stability in the Arctic.

“As regards the Nobel Peace Prize, I have clearly explained, including to President Trump, what is well known, the prize is awarded by an independent Nobel Committee and not the Norwegian Government.”

Democrats are, of course, coming out of the woodwork with criticism of our commander-in-chief here.

Not surprisingly, we’re not hearing from Republicans, whose silence we can take as complicity in supporting the use of U.S. resources to soothe Trump’s hurt feelings over a Nobel Prize that he had no business expecting to win.

“I don’t see how you can be a serious person and not find this extremely worrisome,” said U.S. Sen. Brian Schatz, D-Hawaii. “He is not stable at all, and his reality is warped. He was always a bit like this, of course, but now he’s 80.”

“To be led by a psychotic imbecile like Donald Trump — and to have people around him supporting using a trillion-dollar military to do violence against allies because of a demented temper tantrum— means there must be real action by people in the USA and internationally to stop this madman,” said Denver Riggleman, a Nelson County businessman who served a single term in Congress as a Republican representing the Fifth District, which runs along the eastern spine of the Blue Ridge.

“He must be impeached. His administration is a collection of rabid kooks,” Riggleman said.
