Bridgewater College’s Fall Spiritual Focus will feature two programs by Ted & Company TheaterWorks on Thursday, Sept. 24.
During the 9:30 a.m. service, Ted & Company TheaterWorks will perform biblical stories that will challenge the mind, touch the heart and tickle the funny bone. At 7:30 p.m., the group will perform “Tattered and Worn: An Eccentric Look at the Good Book.”
In “Tattered and Worn,” Ted Swartz and Jeff Raught weave monologue, song and sketches into an entertaining look at the way God interacts with His people, from Genesis to Revelation. Incorporating scenes from “Fish-Eyes” and “Creation Chronicles,” the duo has created a new show that explores what it means to lose your faith – and to find it again.
Swartz graduated from seminary in 1987 and began a ministry to audiences across the U.S. and beyond. The first 20 years of this work were done as part of the duo, Ted & Lee. Since the sudden death of his acting partner, Swartz is presenting his unique dramas with a variety of actors. He lives in the Shenandoah Valley with his wife, Sue.
Raught is equal parts actor, composer and minister of music. He has composed original scores of music for theater and dance companies, and as a founding member of the band Raught N Shane has performed on the keyboards extensively over the past 15 years. He also serves as minister of music at Ridgeview Mennonite Church in Lancaster County, Pa., where he and his wife, Cindy, and their two sons live.
Both programs will be held in the Carter Center for Worship and Music and are open to the public at no charge.
