Staunton Senior Center Local Council met Nov. 15

AFP

The Local Council for Staunton Senior Center met for its regular monthly meeting on Nov. 15.

Center Director Lynn Harris announced that the Center’s portion of payment for the new van had been paid off and more than $1,700 remained from the fall dance profits. This money will be available for special member projects. Lynn made a suggestion to use $1,000 of that as the beginning budget for next fall’s dance. Local council members generally approved this idea, but it will first be discussed with Center members.

Council Chair Michael Thompson announced the resignation, for personal reasons, of the Rev. Kim Triplett and this was accepted by council. He also gave a brief report of the Volunteer Appreciation Party. Plans for that are well in hand with entertainment and door prizes confirmed, as well as a date and time, Sunday, April 7 from 1-3pm. It will be a wine and cheese event with singer Terri Allard of Charlottesville performing.

Local Council will not meet in December, so the next meeting will be Thursday, Jan. 17 at 4pm.
