Mary Baldwin University will host the inauguration of the institution’s 10th president, Dr. Jeffrey P. Stein, on Oct. 18 at 10 a.m.

Stein’s tenure began on July 1, 2023.

The inauguration will coincide with Mary Baldwin’s annual Homecoming festivities and will highlight Mary Baldwin’s past, present and future.

“In 183 years, Mary Baldwin has only had 10 presidents, so Dr. Stein’s inauguration alone is a historic moment,” said Mary Harvey, MBU’s vice president of university advancement. “This is a milestone moment, and we plan to showcase the very best of Mary Baldwin’s arts, academics, incomparable spaces and history of innovation as we look towards her bright future together as a community.”

The formal inauguration ceremony will take place on Page Terrace in front of Grafton Library in Staunton. A community block party will be held from 7-9 p.m.

Stein came to MBU from Elon University where he served as vice president for strategic initiatives and partnerships and assistant professor of English.

Stein follows Pamela R. Fox as president of MBU. Fox served in the role for two decades.
