A psychiatric care technician at the Commonwealth Center for Children and Adolescents in Staunton is in custody on two charges involving sex offenses with a child.
Faniel Gerensea, 20, of Harrisonburg, was arrested on Friday, first reported on RecentlyBooked.com, and confirmed by AFP with the inmate search locator on the Middle River Regional Jail website, which lists Gerensea as still being in custody.
We also received confirmation from Virginia State Police, which made the arrest in the case.
We’d asked VSP for any details related to the arrest, and a spokesperson for the agency declined to comment further.
Gerensea was charged with two counts of taking indecent liberties with child by person in custodial or supervisory relationship, a Class 5 felony, which comes with exposure of up to 10 years in state prison.
Gerensea was due in Staunton Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court on Monday for a bond hearing, according to the online Virginia court system database.
A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for Feb. 2.
