Staunton author William C. Markham will debut his seventh book, a fantasy novel, Luckborn, at Richmond ComiCon on Saturday.

Markham is a busy guy – the Virginia Tech alum is a fifth-grade teacher in Rockingham County, the father of four, an actor in local theater, and his runs Impressions Theatre, a small touring company.

Luckborn has earned a spot on Royal Road’s Rising Stars list, where early readers praised its mix of coming-of-age magic and tabletop-inspired adventure.

Markham describes his latest work as something that fans of Harry Potter and Dungeons & Dragons will be able to identify with, with familiar touches in the tale of young heroes navigating friendship, courage and fate.

Luckborn is about more than spells and battles,” Markham said. “It’s about the choices we make, the people we rely on, and how even the smallest spark of hope can change everything.”
