i81-headerAt 11:12 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 6), Virginia State Police Trooper S.A. Simmons was called to the scene of a single-vehicle crash in the southbound lanes of Interstate 81 at the 223 in Augusta County. A southbound tractor-trailer ran off the left side of the road, struck the guardrail and overturned. The impact of the crash caused the trailer to rupture and spill its load. The trailer was carrying picture frames, potpourri and other items. Crews at the scene are also in the process of containing and cleaning up leaking diesel fuel.

The driver, Pavel Gushtyuk, 33, of Tenn., suffered minor injuries in the crash and was treated at the scene. He has been charged with reckless driving.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
