st. anne's-belfield schoolSt. Anne’s-Belfield School will host the inaugural student-led Greenway Symposium on Dec. 10 with the theme “Big Ideas.”

Inspired by popular TED Talk events around the country, the Greenway Symposium will provide a platform for the Charlottesville community to share their most interesting ideas, powerful insights, and unique experiences at an event specifically designed to bring students into the conversation.

“We hope the symposium will engage the audience and bring out healthy dialogue on many different topics,” said Junho Moon, a St. Anne’s-Belfield School senior and member of the student organizing committee.

Moon, along with fellow students Kurt Bertone ’17, Jerry Yao ’18, Yuelin Dang ’18, and Piper Holden ’19 have worked on organizing the event since spring 2015. Confirmed speakers include:

  • Dan Rosensweig, president and chief executive officer of Habitat for Humanity Greater Charlottesville;
  • Timothy Longo, former Charlottesville chief of police;
  • Wendy Amato, director of curriculum and academics at WorldStrides;
  • Toan Nguyen, co-founder of C’ville Coffee, C’ville Central, and Community Investment Collaborative;
  • James Coan, director of the Virginia Affective Neuroscience Laboratory at U.Va.

Free tickets are now available to attend the Dec. 10 event, which will take place at the Greenway Rise Auditorium (2132 Ivy Road) from 2:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. RSVPs are requested, and may be made at www.greenway-symposium.org.
