road-work-headerMotorists should expect single lane traffic on the Route 42 Calfpasture River bridge near Route 39 in the Goshen area of Rockbridge County.  Flagger traffic control will be in this location 24-hours a day.  Drivers should use extreme caution in this area.

During the evening of May 15 the bridge was hit by a truck causing damage to the concrete railing.  This railing will be replaced.  Contractors will begin work late on Friday, May 16.  The work zone will be active 24-hours a day until all work is complete.  Early estimates are for the work to be finished around May 21.

Virginia Department of Transportation bridge inspectors have examined the bridge and confirm only the railing is damaged.  The bridge is safe for traffic.
