Shenandoah National Park introduces new Mobile Visitor Center

ShenandoahLogo_Outlined_Black_VerticalShenandoah National Park has a new Mobile Visitor Center that will serve to provide visitors with information in the South District of Shenandoah National Park.

The Mobile Visitor Center will supplement the services that are already available at the Park’s two visitor centers – Dickey Ridge Visitor Center (mile 4.6 on Skyline Drive) and the Byrd Visitor Center (mile 51).  Look for the colorful Sprinter van along Skyline Drive to find helpful rangers waiting to share trip-planning advice, answer Park questions, and provide Park maps, brochures, and other information.

“We are excited to offer this innovative approach to providing information to visitors in the south end of the Park,” says Superintendent, Jim Northup.

The Mobile Visitor Center will frequently be stationed at Beagle Gap (mile 99.5) to be readily available to visitors arriving through Rockfish Gap Entrance Station, but may be found in other South District locations as well. Hours and locations will vary depending on the day, weather, and Park visitation.  Check with Park staff, when you enter, for the most up-to-date information.

This vehicle was made possible through generous funding by the Shenandoah National Park Association (SNPA) – a non-profit partner with Shenandoah National Park providing informational and educational items to park visitors.
