In October 2007, Clair Myers thought it was time to try out a new format for the Cultural Commission’s Third Friday performances. With the help of Richard Adams and the Boogie Kings, he created what has come to be the River City Radio Hour. He convinced Marsha Howard not to hide her comedy but put it on stage. He contacted a playwright friend to write a serial with monthly cliff-hangers and contracted other local performers to be part of the first performance. Thus the River City Radio Hour was born and is now one of the Valley’s signature productions. On Friday, June 21, the show will mark the end of mark the end of its sixth season with a lineup of talent worthy of a celebration.
Richard Adams and the Boogie Kings will bring their special musical talents to the 6:30 and 8:00 pm performances. Once again William Hayes will amaze the audience with his dexterity and J. T. Fauber will keep the rhythm while Richard Adams picks up multiple instruments to complete the number. Joining them will be songwriter/poet/musician and cobbler Duffy.
Marsh Howard will open her store of jokes and provide a final helping of laughter. She and Clair Myers have become dueling comics and are likely to end the season with another round of “Can You Top This?”
Rose Harper Nelson county storyteller and actress will premiere her travails with autos with “The Accident”.
