Police arrest man in suspicious death in High Bridge Trail State Park

A Lynchburg man has been charged with second-degree murder in a suspicious death case at High Bridge Trail State Park.

Demetrius M. Brown, 28, was arrested today in the death of Samantha Okinyi, 23, of Prospect, Va.

Agents with the Virginia State Police took Brown into custody without incident.

Remains were found on Aug. 23 in the Prospect area of the state park in Prince Edward County. According to VSP, two bicyclists reported finding the deceased white female at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Brown is currently awaiting processing in the City of Lynchburg.
