policecar3For the 11th year, volunteers from the national organization CUE Center for Missing Persons will be traveling across the U.S. to raise awareness of missing, murdered, and unidentified persons.

Starting October 10th, CUE Center founder Monica Caison and her team will be attending numerous pre-planned rally stops hosted by CUE state directors, loved ones of missing persons, law enforcement, and various officials. After completion of the tour, the team will have journeyed over 4000 miles through 11 states, attending over 25 rally stops, promoting over 110 featured missing persons and supporting many others missing or unsolved, local to the areas surrounding each rally stop.

As the Road to Remember tour passes through Virginia this year, they will be making four rally stops highlighting missing persons in our state. Each rally is hosted by CUE Center’s Virginia state directors and outreach coordinators, Shawn White and Madonna Layne, in collaboration with loved ones of missing persons local to the rally stops. All rally stops will be held rain or shine.

“After so many years, these cases fade from the public’s radar, but for the families and friends of a missing person, the nightmare continues — every minute of every day their loved one is absent,” said Caison, who is leading the caravan of volunteers.

The tour travels across the country to make sure that no case fades from memory. The annual campaign serves as a reminder by featuring cases that are in need of a resolution, “they need our help and the community’s help to bring them home,” she added.

Additionally she explains, “Each year as we begin in preparation of the tour, we are reminded of the overwhelming amount of unsolved cases from across the country; we have to do more. The cases we feature are a small number compared to the NCIC reported statistics listing between 700,000 to 850,000 cases annually on a national level, but I’m confident we will make a difference in those we represent”.
