MSNBC piece questions Jim Webb commitment to Democratic Party presidential race

Chris Graham

jim-webbAn MSNBC piece published Wednesday raised questions about the commitment of former Virginia U.S. Sen. Jim Webb to the 2016 Democratic Party presidential race.

The piece pointed out Webb’s absence from recent Democratic Party events in Minnesota and New Hampshire, and his vacillation over attending an Oct. 24 event in Iowa.

The article also raised question about Webb’s interest in campaigning, a valid critique given his obvious disdain for the campaign trail both in his run for the U.S. Senate in 2006 and his decision not to seek re-election in 2012.

Webb campaign spokesman Craig Crawford defended the candidate to MSNBC by pointing to a Sept. 3 Facebook post aimed at pumping up his fundraising.

Webb is running in the 1 to 2 percent range in most national polls.
