Mary Washington coach Marcus Kahn has received the 2026 Glenn Robinson National Coach of the Year award, which is presented annually to the top head coach in D3.

Kahn has his UMW team in the D3 national championship game this weekend on the strength of an 11-game winning streak.

“Marcus Kahn has been doing an outstanding job for many years,” said Joe Dwyer, president of College Insider Inc. and member of the Glenn Robinson voting panel. “He established himself as one of the top coaches in the country during his time at Cabrini, and he’s turned Mary Washington into a perennial contender.”

Kahn notched his 400th career victory this season, and his career record stands, at the moment, at 415-228, with a 262-201 record at Mary Washington, which earned its third NCAA Tournament bid in the last four years this season.

The 2024-2025 team finished with a 15-15 record, but won the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Tournament to punch its NCAA ticket, and advanced to the Sweet 16.

The Eagles have a 29-3 record going into Sunday’s national title game against Emory (27-3).

Twenty-four years ago today, July 2, 2002, Augusta Free Press was breathed into being. Looking back on July 2, 2002, it’s safe to say, we didn’t think we’d make it 24 years. My goal was much more modest – to just make it three months.
