Mark Herring, now calling himself attorney general-elect, is beginning the process of governing by announcing his transition committee co-chairs as well as his transition director.
“Transitions are about new beginnings, and this transition will be a return to fundamentals,” Herring said in a statement. “We will get back to putting ideology and partisanship aside, and putting the law and Virginians first. The co-chairs are an exceptional group of Virginians, talented and with wide and deep experience in the issues confronting our state. Together, we’re going to build an attorney feneral’s office that works for all Virginians.”
Herring announced his five co-chairs to help provide advice and expertise as he begins to put together what the Office of Attorney General will look like once he is sworn in on January 11, 2014. The co-chairs include:
- Gabriel Morgan, Sheriff, Newport News
- Anne Holton, former First Lady of Virginia and former Juvenile and Domestic Relations district court judge, Richmond
- Michael Doucette, Commonwealth’s Attorney, Lynchburg
- Jeffrey Novak, National Director of State Public Policy and Assistant General Counsel at AOL, and member of the Northern Virginia Technology Council, Prince William
- Shannon Taylor, Commonwealth’s Attorney, Henrico
Additionally, Herring announced that David Hallock, Deputy Chief of Staff and Legislative Director for Sen. Mark Warner, would lead his transition.
