James Madison women’s basketball junior guard Precious Hall has been named to the Naismith Trophy Women’s Midseason Top 30 List, presented by AT&T, the organization announced Wednesday.
“It’s a tremendous honor for a young lady that is well deserved,” Head Coach Kenny Brooks said. “She has worked extremely hard to get to this point with a lot of expectations of her this year and she’s handled it beautifully. Her play is indicative of why she’s on this list. It’s a very prestigious list, and I’m very proud of her and very excited. It’s just a tremendous honor, not only for Precious, but for JMU women’s basketball.”
Hall is averaging 21.0 points per game this season, which is 17th nationally, on 37.5 percent shooting from the floor and 81.9 percent shooting at the free-throw line. She has scored at least 20 points 13 times this year and has scored in double figures in 30 of the Dukes’ last 31 contests dating back to the 2013-14 campaign. On Dec. 7, she became just the 27th Duke in program history to reach 1,000 career points and has pushed her total to 1,282.
Her scoring includes 3.36 made 3-pointers per game, which is third nationally. Hall has tallied 74 3-pointers this season, eighth-most in JMU history, and 174 in her career, which is third all-time at JMU.
Hall has played in 93 consecutive games, tied for the 15th-longest streak in JMU history. Of those 93 games, 84 in a row have seen her in the starting lineup, which ranks as the ninth-longest streak in JMU history.
This season, Hall was tabbed as the Colonial Athletic Association Preseason Player of the Year and has earned two weekly league honors in to this point in the season. She adds 5.0 rebounds per game with 2.4 assists and 1.2 steals per contest.
The 10 semifinalists for the Naismith Trophy will be announced March 5 before the top four are revealed on March 20. The winner will be announced on April 6.
