Carroll was a First Team All-CAA honoree and was a semifinalist for the Gregg Olson Award as college baseball’s Breakout Player of the Year as presented by College Baseball Lineup.  With the college baseball season nearing its conclusion, Carroll ranks second in the nation with eight triples, which also matched the JMU program record.

In addition to his eight triples, Carroll hit .389 with 50 runs, 55 RBIs, 14 doubles, three home runs and 21 stolen bases on 24 attempts.  He ranked third in the CAA and 16th in the nation in batting average.  He also currently sits 20th nationally with 1.08 RBIs per game, 50th with 0.98 runs per game, 54th with a .591 slugging percentage and 61st with his 0.41 steals per game.

Carroll began his breakout season in the early stages, going 3-for-4 with four RBIs in the fourth game of the season to ignite a 16-game hitting streak and sit at .420 through the first 19 games of the season. Four games later, Carroll ripped off a second 16-game hitting streak and ended the year hitting in nine straight. In 51 total games, he had just six in which he had an at bat and did not collect a hit.

A CAA All-Rookie selection in 2012, Carroll hit .279 in his freshman season.  He posted six doubles, two triples, one home run, 33 runs, 28 RBIs and 13 steals.
