An isolated tornado and severe weather including thunderstorms and damaging winds is possible throughout Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland this afternoon.

The line of storms in North Carolina will make their way north bringing potentially dangerous conditions to the region.

Specifically, thunderstorms are possible late this afternoon and evening near Interstate 64 in central Virginia. Some of these storms may bring a risk for damaging wind gusts and a brief isolated tornado, according to the advisory.

In Virginia, a hazardous weather outlook advisory was issued for Augusta, Rockingham, Nelson, Albemarle, Greene, Madison, Orange, Culpeper, Shenandoah, Frederick, Warren, Clarke, Fauquier, Loudoun and Prince William counties.

This hazardous weather outlook also includes portions of eastern West Virginia and central and western Maryland.

Thunderstorms are also possible after 2 p.m. today. Breezy conditions are possible in the Shenandoah Valley with gusts as high as 40 mph. Up to 0.75” of rain is possible with higher amounts possible in areas that experience thunderstorms.
