George Mason lost at home last night to Duquesne, 71-65, and with the setback, Mason lost its margin of error in terms of a possible NCAA Tournament at-large berth.

It’s win the A-10 Tournament or bust now for the Patriots (20-3, 9-2 A-10, NET: 75).

Mason led 60-52 with 7:12 to play, but only scored five points in the final 7:12, shooting 2-of-8 from the field with five turnovers down the stretch.

The loss to Duquesne (13-10, 5-5 A-10, NET: 133) counts as a Quad 3 loss.

“This is an unfortunate and disappointing loss,” head coach Tony Skinn said. “So many things snowballed into that outcome. With what we’re chasing, that’s a tough one. But we’re going to have to stay together because the second half of our league play is not going to get any easier.”

Riley Allenspach led the Patriots with 18 points (8-of-12 FG) and seven rebounds. Jahari Long added 17 points and three assists in 38 minutes. Kory Mincy chipped in 10 points and three assists.
