Former Virginia Tech football coach Justin Fuente has been hired as a senior advisor by the College Football Playoff.
The job will have Fuente, who was let go from his job at Virginia Tech with two games to go in the 2021 season, consulting with the FBS conference offices, the NCAA, the NCAA’s officiating staff and the CFP’s chief medical officer.
He will also work with the CFP staff on the implementation of playoff policies and best practices related to game operations, officiating, technology and other policy considerations.
“I am thrilled about this new opportunity for my family and me,” said Fuente, who most recently served as an analyst on the staff at Indiana in the 2023 season under Tom Allen, who was fired at the end of that season after IU finished 3-9.
“Football has been an important part of my life as a player, teammate and coach, and I appreciate this chance to give back to the game I love. I look forward to working with the College Football Playoff staff and helping to grow one of the great events in all of sports,” Fuente said.
Fuente was 43-31 in six seasons at Virginia Tech, from 2016-2021.
