Fishburne basketball routs Grace Christian, 65-31

Chris Graham

FMS newThe Fishburne Military School varsity basketball team traveled to Staunton for a contest against the Warriors of Grace Christian School on Tuesday night and returned to Waynesboro with a 65-31 win.

The Caissons defense set the tone early and often, holding the Warriors to single-digit scoring in each of the first three quarters. Alexandria’s Jordan Jake, a junior and varsity captain, was named the MaxPreps Player of the Game for his 15 points and rebounding effort. Waynesboro junior Qua’Sean Napier scored 15, and Treavor Norman of Waynesboro had 14 points.

Senior Dominic Hollins added seven points, while Waynesboro sophomore Kian Tate and Olney, Md., native John Hendler both totaled four points while Calen Owens, Carter Marshall, and Ahmed Bocoum all chipped in two points. Fishburne is now 2-0 and will be back in action on December 2 when they travel to Harrisonburg to face Eastern Mennonite.

Coach Bryan Greene comments:
“Our defense won this game for us, and there are still tweeks that we need to make to our defense. Coach Abrams and I are very proud of the effort our guys put forward, and we have the right attitude to continue improving. We still need to work on our offensive execution, as I believe that is our weakest area right now. Coach Abrams continues to be a great addition to the staff, and we look forward to the rest of the season.”
