Fauquier County: Police search for two drivers in fatal pedestrian crash

Virginia State Police released the name of the pedestrian struck in Fauquier County on Friday night.

Garland J. Heddings, 73, of Catlett, died at the scene.

Police believe the Nissan SUV involved in the accident was a 2001-2003 Nissan Frontier truck.

Police continue to search for both drivers involved in the accident.

Virginia State Police are asking the public for help identifying two drivers who struck a pedestrian in Fauquier County Friday night and left the scene.

The fatal crash occurred at 5:47 p.m. on Route 806 (Elk Run Road) at Flippo Lane.

An adult male was walking eastbound across Route 806 when he was struck by a northbound SUV. The pedestrian was then struck by an unknown southbound vehicle.  Both vehicles left the scene.

The pedestrian, whose name has not been released, died at the scene.

The initial striking vehicle is believed to be a late 1990s to early 2000s silver Nissan SUV. The Nissan should have front-end damage.

The unknown southbound vehicle may also have damage to the front end.

Police are looking for the public to help identify both drivers in the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
