Charlottesville: Arrest made in malicious wounding reported on Downtown Mall

Charlottesville Police have made an arrest in connection with a malicious wounding incident on the Downtown Mall near 9th Street NE and Market Street on Monday.

The suspect, Harry Seay, was taken into custody without incident, according to a release from the Charlottesville PD.

The investigation into the incident began at 6:44 a.m. Monday, after officers were approached by a victim who had a significant laceration to the side of their face.

The investigation determined the incident stemmed from a dispute between the victim and the suspect. During the dispute, the suspect struck the victim in the head with a large rock.

After the dispute, the victim was treated for their injuries.

Officers were able to locate video footage of the assault, which the release said provided a clear image of the suspect, Seay, who was located in the area of 9th Street NE and Market Street.
