A Waynesboro man was indicted last month by an Orange County grand jury on multiple child sex crimes.
John Franklin Summers, 40, of Waynesboro, was indicted on July 21 on four counts of aggravated sexual battery against a child younger than 13 years old, four counts of sodomy with a child younger than 13 years old, four counts of taking indecent liberties with a child and one count of rape, according to a release from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook on Monday.
Summers was arrested in Waynesboro on July 29, per a review of daily arrest records from the Waynesboro Police Department.
The offense dates listed in the arrest records and on the Virginia online courts database are Aug. 1, 2019, Feb. 1, 2020, and Feb. 9, 2024.
The release tells us that the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and the Town of Orange Police Department are conducting an ongoing investigation into Summers, who is being held without bond at the Central Virginia Regional Jail.
Summers is due in court for a hearing in the case on Tuesday, Aug. 18.
