Elaine LuriaTuesday in a House Veterans’ Affairs Economic Opportunity Subcommittee hearing, Congresswoman Elaine Luria (VA-02) highlighted her sharp focus on improving VA programs that train and counsel veterans seeking civilian jobs after their service.

Congresswoman Luria, in questions to Margarita Devlin, Principal Deputy Under Secretary for Benefits in the Department of Veterans Affairs, specifically zeroed in on VA’s Transition Assistance Program (TAP), an important military-to-civilian initiative. She also asked about VA’s efforts to streamline other key jobs programs for veterans.

Congresswoman Luria is a cosponsor of H.R. 444, the Reduce Unemployment for Veterans of All Ages Act of 2019, which seeks to help more veterans with service-connected disabilities and employment handicaps prepare for, find, and keep meaningful jobs.

“Veterans got the job done for America,” Congresswoman Luria said after the hearing. “It’s only fair that America gets the job done for veterans. Our veterans have such valuable skills to contribute to society, and it’s a missed opportunity if the government fails to help.”
