bridgewaterDavid Romano, who lives with depression and has experienced the dark lows of self-injury and a suicide attempt during high school, will speak on Monday, April 28, at 7:30 p.m. in Cole Hall at Bridgewater College.

Since getting the help and support he needed, Romano is committed to letting others know that it isn’t a weakness to ask for help. He empowers audiences to embrace who they are and support each other in eliminating the stigma attached to mental illness.

A native of Minnesota, Romano is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in social work at The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth.

He also works at a facility for youth and families struggling with mental health issues and is a member of the Active Minds Speakers Bureau.

The program, sponsored by the Mark Flora Fund and the Bridgewater College chapter of Active Minds, is free and open to the public.

Bridgewater College is a private, four-year liberal arts college located in the Central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Founded in 1880, it was the state’s first private, coeducational college. Today, Bridgewater College is home to approximately 1,800 undergraduate students.
