The Ben Cline campaign comes across like it’s bragging about how its guy got an A+ rating and endorsement for his re-election from the NRA, which only gives out endorsements and A+ ratings to politicians who roll over so that the lobby can help gun manufacturers increase their profits as more of us shoot each other into the next world.
“I came to Washington to defend the Constitution, especially our Second Amendment,” said Cline, in a statement from a release put out by his campaign on Tuesday. “From legislation I’ve sponsored, like the Hearing Protection Act that was signed into law as part of the Working Families Tax Cuts Act, and the Firearm Access During Shutdowns Act, which is still pending in committee, to supporting and cosponsoring additional legislation, I have continuously worked to protect the God-given rights of law-abiding gun owners. I am honored to be recognized by the National Rifle Association for these efforts, and I will continue to fight for your right to carry.”

Asking for a couple hundred families who are scared to send their kids back to school, because you’ve spent years helping gun manufacturers evade responsibility for the irreversible proliferation of guns in our society, not a one of which has made us more safe and secure.
The other sentence in the statement attributed to Cline tells us he doesn’t know who he’s running against on the Nov. 3 ballot.
“Radical leftists like Abigail Spanberger and Attorney General Jay Jones want to take your firearms away,” Cline claimed. “I’m fighting tirelessly in Washington to preserve and protect your right to keep and bear arms and to stop them.”
Actually, I’ll take this to signal that Ben Cline perhaps has aspirations to run for statewide office next cycle.
Which we should welcome, because he wouldn’t crack 40 percent statewide.
