Remember how we read the riot act to Charlottesville Police for not sharing images that they so ably described in a release about a shooting on the Downtown Mall on Saturday?
Three days later, the PD is finally releasing images of the suspect, and asking for y’all’s help.
“If you recognize the person pictured or have information that may assist investigators, please contact Detective Raines at (434) 970-3266, or submit an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers at (434) 977-4000,” a release with attached photos that went out to the local media on Tuesday morning asks.

The images update what Charlottesville Police had let us in on three days ago, when the department sent out a release about officers being dispatched to the East Main Street-3rd Street SE area at 1:53 a.m. on Saturday, to respond to a report of a large disorder involving approximately 10 people.
At 1:58 a.m., officers received additional calls reporting shots fired in the area, the release continued, and a subsequent investigation reviewed multiple angles of surveillance video from the Downtown Mall.
The video, per the release, showed a suspect moving in and out of camera view during the disorder, pointing a firearm eastbound, and firing shots near CVS before turning and running south toward Water Street.
In terms of a description, all we got was, the guy was wearing a black hoodie with white writing on the front, light blue jeans, and white sneakers.
They sat on these images for three days, for some reason that makes sense to somebody.
