The following highway work is scheduled; weather permitting, in the Culpeper VDOT District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones. Items in italics contain new or updated information.

Albemarle County
Routes 29, 618, 640, 643, 679, 682, 691, 729 – Pavement patching. Motorists should expect to encounter equipment and workers in the roadway and along the shoulders. Slow down as you approach the work zone and be alert for directional signs and flaggers controlling traffic. Expect brief delays.
Route 600 (Campbell Road) – Machining and grading gravel road. Motorists should be alert for mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment working in the roadway; brief delays possible.
Route 633 (Heards Mountain Road) — Closed to through traffic on Wednesday and Thursday for a pipe replacement. The road will be opened overnight if work progress allows.
Routes 635 (Miller School Road), 743 (Earlysville Road) – Pipe cleaning. Motorists should expect to encounter equipment and workers in the roadway and along the shoulders. Slow down as you approach the work zone and be alert for directional signs and flaggers controlling traffic. Expect brief delays.
Route 631 (Fifth Street) – Deck repairs on the bridge over Interstate 64 between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Motorists should expect alternating lane closures with traffic controlled by flaggers through the work zone and brief delays.
Routes 618, 630, 631, 649, 660, 664, 665, 708, 711, 712, 719, 729, 743, 760, 795 – Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.
Route 708 (Dry Bridge Road) – Closed to through traffic at the railroad bridge for construction of a new bridge and approaches. Traffic will be detoured via Route 787 (Gillums Ridge Road). The bridge will remain closed until the project is completed in September.
Town of Culpeper
Route 15/29 Business (Madison Highway) – Construction of roundabout at Route 229 (Main Street). A new traffic pattern is in effect using a temporary signal. All traffic on Route 15/29 will follow signs to an intersection with Route 229 east of the current signal. Traffic headed north on Route 229 will turn left onto the temporary lane.
The northbound and southbound lanes will be limited to one lane of traffic within 1,000 feet of the intersection between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Motorists should expect minor delays, reduce speed and follow traffic controls.
Route 229 (Main Street) – Construction of roundabout at Route 15/29 Business (Madison Highway). A new traffic pattern is in effect. All traffic on Route 229 will follow signs to a temporary traffic signal east of the current signal.
Lane closures will occur from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday. Motorists should expect minor delays, reduce speed and follow traffic controls.
Fauquier County
Route 211 (Lee Highway) – Mowing on shoulders, intersections and crossovers from the town of Warrenton west to the Culpeper County line between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tractors and other equipment will be shadowed by trucks marking the mobile work zone; motorists should be alert as they approach those vehicles and watch for slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.
Fluvanna County
Routes 601, 605, 608, 624, 638, 654, 656, 659, 684, 686, 799 – Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.
Route 6 (East River Road) – Replacement of the bridge over the Rivanna River. Contractor is continuing site-clearing work and will begin installation of shoring materials at the bridge abutments. Some work will require temporary lane closures with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area.
Route 6 (West River Road) – Replacement of the bridge over the Hardware River. Contractor is excavating on both sides of the river and beginning construction of the new bridge on the east side of the river. Some work will require temporary lane closures with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area.
Greene County
Route 609 (Fredericksburg Road) – Culvert installation is complete and the road reopened to through traffic on July 2.
Routes 626, 628, 630, 634, 810 – Mowing along shoulders and intersections. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.
Routes 637 (Pocosan Mountain Road), 642 (Entry Run Road) – Machining, grading and application of dust control on gravel roads. Motorists should be alert for mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment working in the roadway; brief delays possible.
Routes 607 (Cedar Grove Road), 609 (Fredericksburg Road) – Maintenance of drainage ditches. Motorists should be alert for mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment working along the shoulders and in the roadway; brief delays possible.
Route 638 (Turkey Ridge Road) – Pipe cleaning. Motorists should expect to encounter equipment and workers in the roadway and along the shoulders. Slow down as you approach the work zone and be alert for directional signs and flaggers controlling traffic. Expect brief delays.
Routes 609, 637 (Octonia Road) – Pavement patching. Motorists should expect to encounter equipment and workers in the roadway and along the shoulders. Slow down as you approach the work zone and be alert for directional signs and flaggers controlling traffic. Expect brief delays.
Louisa County
Route 627 (Zion Road) – Deck repairs on the bridge over Interstate 64 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. beginning Tuesday. Motorists should expect alternating lane closures with traffic controlled by flaggers through the work zone and brief delays.
Routes 600, 615, 636, 639, 678, 691, 694, 749 – Mowing along shoulders, intersections and crossovers. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.
Pipe replacements will affect traffic on the following roads this week. All work is weather permitting.
- Route 617 (East Green Springs Road) will be closed between Route 15 (James Madison Highway) and Route 640 (East Old Mountain Road) during the day on Thursday and Friday.
- Route 649 (East Jack Jouett Road) will be closed to through traffic during the day Monday–Wednesday.
Madison County
Routes 230 west (Wolftown-Hood Road), 231 (North Blue Ridge Turnpike) – Maintenance of roadway shoulders. Motorists should be alert for mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment working along the shoulders and in the roadway. Be alert for traffic controls as you approach the work zone; brief delays possible.
Pipe replacements will affect traffic on the following roads this week. All work is weather permitting. Motorists should be alert for signs warning of the work zone, reduce speed and follow directional signs and traffic controls as they drive through the work area.
