This one was a game into the fourth quarter, but the result was the same.
Clemson continued its recent dominance of Virginia Tech, breaking open a one-touchdown game at the half to win 38-17 in Death Valley on Saturday.
The Hokie defense for the most part held the vaunted Tiger offense in check, limiting Clemson to 295 yards of total offense. But Virginia Tech (4-4, 2-2 ACC_ committed three turnovers, including a Jonathan Meeks interception that he returned 74 yards for a Clemson touchdown, to overcome a subpar effort by Tigers quarterback Tajh Boyd, who had his worst game of the season, throwing for just 160 yards on the day.
The win was the third in the past two seasons for Clemson (6-1, 4-1 ACC) over Virginia Tech. Clemson won in Blacksburg 23-3 in the 2011 regular season before taking the ACC Championship Game by a 38-10 final margin.
