Chili, Blues ‘N Brews this weekend in Downtown Waynesboro

The third Annual Chili, Blues ‘N Brews Cook-Off is set for Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Constitution Park in Downtown Waynesboro.

Produced by Waynesboro Downtown Development, Inc., this full-day event promises fun, food, and entertainment for all. International Chili Society member chefs from as far as Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Ohio and New Jersey will join People’s Choice chefs from Waynesboro, Roanoke, Reston, Verona, Lyndhurst, Elkton, Charlottesville, and Staunton to compete for trophies and $3,800 in cash prizes.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three ICS chefs in Red Chili, Chili Verde and Salsa competitions. Prizes will be awarded to the top three People’s Choice chefs, and for the “Best Smokin’ Booth” winners as well. The winner of the ICS Cook-Off’s qualify for the World’s Chili Cook-Off in Charleston, W.Va., for a top prize of $25,000.Admission ($10 per person) includes samplings from all the People’s Choice chefs until the chili runs out. Bring your blanket or lawn chair and enjoy the music of award winning blues bands Proffitt & Sandidge and The Chris Winter Band. Food and beverage vendors will provide respite from chili-overindulgence.

Free shuttle service will be provided from the Invista parking lot on McElroy by M.I.T.S of Virginia (just follow the signs). Proceeds help support Waynesboro Downtown Development, Inc. Partial proceeds will benefit Valley Music Academy.
